Clinics and Services
Asthma
If you have asthma and use an inhaler, we will invite you to an long term condition review with a Nurse.
You can also request an Asthma Action Plan. If you use a written asthma action plan, you are four times less likely to go to hospital for your asthma. We encourage patients to use more environmentally friendly inhalers where possible.
We also ask patients to recycle their inhalers. Find out how you can manage your asthma in an environmentally friendly way
Blood Pressure
A blood pressure test checks if your blood pressure is healthy, or if it's high or low.
We have a self check blood pressure station where you can come and check your blood pressure. You can do this in the practice between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday morning 9am to 12 noon.
This is by the Information Desk in the practice. The practice also has some blood pressure machines that can be borrowed. Please ask at the Information Desk if you would like to borrow one.
Blood Tests
A blood test is often done to check your health, or to find out why you're having certain symptoms.
It involves having a small amount of your blood taken for testing. If a doctor, nurse, or a specialist thinks you need a blood test they will ask you to book one. Find out how to book a blood test on our appointments page.
Cervical Screening
Cervical screening, which used to be called smear testing, is a test to check the health of the cervix.
This can help prevent cervical cancer. It's offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64. We will send you an invitation letter in the post when it's time to book your cervical screening. Your invitation letter will tell you where you can go for cervical screening and how to book.
Important
It’s important to speak to a doctor if you’re worried about symptoms of cervical cancer.
This includes:
- bleeding between periods.
- bleeding during or after sex.
- bleeding after you’ve been through the menopause.
- experiencing unusual vaginal discharge.
Do not wait for your next cervical screening appointment to contact us about this.
