Accessing The NHS App for Others

Can I use the NHS App on behalf of my children?

You can request proxy access on the NHS App for children under the age of 13, if you are the legal guardian. This is also referred to as a 'linked profile' in the NHS App.

Once you have set this up, you will have access to identical App features for the linked profile that you have for your own account. This includes booking appointments, managing prescriptions, and viewing GP health records.

Contact our digital health team to set up proxy access using the online form

Can I use the NHS App on behalf of an adult I am caring for?

Yes. Linked profiles allow family members and carers to access health services on behalf of other adults.

You must both be registered at Frome Medical Practice to set up a linked profile.

Contact our digital health team to set up a linked profile using the online form

Depending on the level of access we agree to give you, you may be able to:

  • Book an appointment for the other person.
  • Request and manage their repeat prescriptions.
  • View some or all of their GP health record.

Using The NHS App to Order Repeat Prescriptions

I don't always order the same medicine each time and the NHS App isn't allowing me to make a repeat prescription request. What should I do?

We are aware that the NHS App has limitations when it comes to making requests for items that you do not need every time.

If you’re looking to request an item like this, check out our prescriptions page for other options.

or:

  1. Request a prescription online
  2. Request using the paper form provided by the pharmacy - To request your prescription, bring the paper form to the practice. Then place the paper form in the prescriptions box to the left of the reception desk.

I used to order my prescriptions online via your website. How do I do this now?

The NHS App is a simpler and quicker way of ordering prescriptions.

Any repeat prescriptions should appear in the NHS App. However, you can still order your all your prescriptions online by seeing our other available options on our prescriptions page.

If you need help ordering prescriptions via the NHS App, our digital health team can assist.

See our Digital Health Support page for details

Keeping your data secure

The NHS App works in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements for the UK. The app then securely connects to information from Frome Medical Practice.

After you download the app, you will need to set up an NHS login and prove who you are. If your device supports fingerprint detection or facial recognition, you can use it to log in to the NHS App each time, instead of using a password and security code.
